An online book on photo editing with the Gimp
This book will help you learn about editing your digital photos (or any digital graphic). It's a good reference, not only for using the Gimp, but also for graphics editing concepts in general.

ImageMagick
This is a great tool for scripting changes to large numbers of images at once. It's all command line driven (depending on the version you use). You could, for example, resize a folder full of images with a single command - once you learn the syntax!

Irfanview
An excellent image viewer. It also has some very good batch tools to do things like resizing many images at once. Freeware.

JPEGCrops
A great Freeware tool that does a few things very well. It crops images to standard aspect ratios of multiple files very, very easily. It is orders of magnitude faster than using online tools provided by your online photo developer - a MyPhotoPrinter.net article is planned.

Paint Shop Pro
For many years, Jasc software's Paint Shop Pro software has provided excellent graphics creation software for the average user - with a price tag of around $130 USD. For many users, it is a great value compared to professional software such as Photoshop, which is several times more in cost.

Simulating depth of field
An article on how to simulate depth of field using a graphics editor. Great for most cheaper analog and digital cameras which don't have great lenses.

The Gimp for Windows
The Gimp is the pre-emininent open source graphics. It has it's roots in Linux, but there is a Windows port. I've used it quite extensively, the interface is a little quirky (for a Windows user) and it does crash from time to time (in the Windows version), but overall for a price of $0 it's a great value.

Use multiple photos to reduce noise
An interesting one pager on composing multiple photos to create a higher quality final image with less noise. Only good for studio use with a tripod, for obvious reasons.
